Settling in and venturing out

Our first few days have been great. Our team is getting to know each other better, and we're beginning to understand what our work looks like here. We were able to attend an international assembly on Sunday and one in a home that night. It was neat to get to see how things change from culture to culture. We've been enjoying the people very much, and of course, Noah and Juliana are like celebrities. We were walking down the road yesterday and a little boy passed us, turned around to look at Noah, ran right into a parked car and bounced off. He was ok, and his dad just stood there and laughed. :) I got an opportunity to speak with the security guard that watches our building. He's very friendly, and we have a growing relationship in which he speaks only English and I speak only Chinese...needless to say they are pretty short conversations so far. Ask the Father that this would become more than just good conversation practice.

We love you all, and hope to report again soon. We do not have internet in our apartment, so connections are few and far between.

-Love, Jeff

Hello! I'm glad you guys are getting settled in and enjoying your time there. I miss you and understand that you can't write frequently. I check your blog every day just in case, and I always call mom to read them to her. She is having a great vacation and even took one of those old western pictures with Lary where they dressed up in gun-slinger, saloon type atire...feather boa and a shotgun for props, it was cute but suprising:) Good news here, Dods got the Personal Banker's position that he interviewed for so he is thrilled. I'm off this week for my "summer break" and it's only Monday and I'm already bored. Wish you guys were here. Have fun & kiss the celebrities for me.

Hi guys, I am so glad that things are going well. I think of you often and pray. We are having a geat trip. south dakota was beautiful. we went to the badlands,mt rushmore, crazy horse monument and drove the needles highway. I remimbered why it was called the needles highway when out tour bus scraped both mirrors getting through the tunnels. we saw big horn sheep, and deer. we arrived in Montana last sat night. it doesnt get dark here untill 11pm so we had plenty of time to hook up. the east side of glacier nat park is breathtaking. The main and only pass over the mountians is still closed. they were trying to clear 70 foot of snow and when they got it cleared an avalanche covered it again. we drove as far as we could go On a very narrow road. we passed the tree line and up into the snow line. we had to have a snow ball fight. the waterfalls from the snow melt were beatufull and the power of the water was amazing. we have seen mountin goats playing with there babies on the cliffs, a momma bear and 2 cubbs and deer. Today we went to Bison nat park. we say bison of course. one came walking down the road toward us. we also saw Antalope, deer and elk. It is so cool to see them in there natural enviroment. Tomorrow we are going white water rafting. well enough for now. Hope youall are having as much fun as we are. miss you love ya a bunch.mom
